"Shake, Don't Stir" had its origins in 2002 when Gordon was teaching piano to Chris's daughter. Chris and Gordon discovered a mutual love of jazz and decided to get together and play a couple of tunes. They did — playing for two hours every Sunday and eventually forming a quartet. The name, "Shake, Don't Stir," was chosen to reflect the predilection of Gordon and Chris for playing movie themes and other less-performed jazz and latin repertoire. Many gigs later, the group continues to offer a wide variety of jazz styles that always includes songs from movies.
We have performed at various venues in Yolo and Sacramento counties including Berryessa Downtown Tasting Room (Winters), Bluenote Brewing Company (Woodland), Steve's Pizza (Woodland), Scribner Bend Vineyards (Sacramento), the Pence Gallery (Davis), and in many private homes and gardens.
